Privacy Policy

Introduction

Learn to Play Cards ("the app") is an iOS app that teaches card games through lessons, quizzes, interactive tables, and practice drills. It is published by The Peninsular Company, LLC, a Michigan limited liability company based in Detroit ("we," "our," or "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have.

We don't run our own servers or user accounts. The app does use a few services, described below, that receive limited information when you use them.

Information Stored on Your Device

To remember your learning, the app stores the following on your device:

• Lesson progress, quiz scores, drill results, achievements, and your Card IQ
• The name you choose to show on certificates, if you enter one (it's optional)
• Settings, such as whether anonymous usage stats are on
• Whether you've bought "Remove Ads"

iCloud Sync

If you're signed in to iCloud, your progress and certificate name are also saved to your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value storage, so they carry over to your other devices. We can't see this data; it's managed by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy.

Advertising

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. The app does not ask for permission to track you (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt) and does not access your device's advertising identifier.

• What Google receives: to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect information such as your IP address, device type, general location derived from it, and how you interact with ads. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
• Consent: where the law requires it, including the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, and some US states, the app shows Google's consent form before any ads load. You can change your choice later in the app under Settings → Privacy Choices.
• Ad content: ads are limited to content suitable for general audiences with parental guidance.

If you buy Remove Ads, the app stops requesting and showing ads.

Anonymous Usage Statistics

To learn which lessons and features help people most, the app sends anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck, for example that a lesson was opened, a quiz was finished and its score, or a drill was completed. These statistics are not linked to your name, Apple ID, or advertising identifier, and TelemetryDeck only receives an anonymized, hashed identifier. See the TelemetryDeck Privacy Policy.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage stats.

Lesson Feedback

If you choose to rate a lesson or send feedback, the app sends your star rating, your message, the game and lesson it's about, and your quiz score for that lesson to Formspree, the service we use to receive feedback. Formspree also sees your IP address. Please don't include personal information in your message. See the Formspree Privacy Policy.

Videos

The first lesson of each game offers a how-to-play video from YouTube. The video's preview image loads from YouTube's image server when the lesson opens, which lets Google see your IP address. The video itself only loads if you tap to play it, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) player, under Google's Privacy Policy.

Game Center

Leaderboards and achievements use Apple Game Center, only if you connect it from the Progress tab. Your scores and achievements are then sent to Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy. You can sign out of Game Center in your device's Settings.

Purchases

The "Remove Ads" purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.

Children

The app is made for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no accounts or social features, and ads are limited to content suitable for general audiences with parental guidance.

Your Choices

• Ad consent: change it anytime in Settings → Privacy Choices (shown where consent is required).
• Usage statistics: turn off Settings → Share anonymous usage stats.
• Remove ads: buy "Remove Ads" in the app's Settings.
• Reset your progress: Settings → Reset All Progress clears your progress on this device and in your iCloud copy. Another of your devices that's still signed in may sync its progress back. Game Center scores and achievements are kept by Apple and aren't removed by this.
• Delete everything on the device: delete the app.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information about you. We don't hold an account or profile for you, but you can contact us about any feedback you've sent and we'll help.

Changes to This Policy

If the app changes how it uses information, we'll update this page and its effective date.
